What is Sound Healing?

I immediately fell in love with using Sound for meditation at first exposure. The sound of crystal sound bowls, along with voice, has the ability to transport immediately. I remembered my days of “trying” to meditate, finding the perfect spot on the beach to sit, closing my eyes, watching my breath, and then—–nothing. There was some block to connecting, to navigating that portal to my inner self, my higher self. I believed for a long time that meditation was simply not for me.

The truth I know now is much different. We all have different ways of learning, of communicating, of absorbing information—–and for some, Sound is simply the best portal. Think of a song that transports you instantly to another place or time. It is that simple, it is that divine. And yet, the place that we choose to be transported to can be happy or sad, or any other emotion, or dimension.

We can choose to listen to sounds that are naturally in harmony, at-one, in unity, like the song of the birds, or the humming of insects, the wind as it rustles through the leaves—–and these sounds will be harmonizing to our bodies, both physical and energetic. We begin to connect to oneness, the oneness that we all are. And as we allow these melodies to enter we may begin to experience calmness, peace, a connection to source, a connection to our highest being.
